about Zakopane

Zakopane is situated in southern Poland, about 100 km (apx 65 miles) to the south of Krakow close to the border with Slovakia (Podtatrzański ditch). North side – Gubałówka Range (1123 m. Above sea level). South side Giewont. The winter capital of Poland and most famous ski resort. Main attractions:

  • Cablecar on Kasprowy Wierch – most popular "ski mountain" offers to do one of the most beatiful sports – in the winter skiing and snowboarding and in the summer mountain tracking.
  • Ground railway on Gubałówka, from where you can admire the panorama of the Tatra Mountains and Zakopane.
  • Butorowy Wierch from witch you can take a ride down on a double chair – lift back to Zakopane.
  • "Wielka Krokiew" ski jump.
  • St. Witkiewicz Theatre.
  • Krupówki street (most famous street in Poland ).
  • Art galleries and museums (Tatrzańskie Museum, Nature Museum, Karol Szymanowski Museum, Kornel Makuszyński Museum etc.)

In the winter Zakopane organize many popular events like: World Cups in ski jumping. Skiing competitions. In the summer International Festival of Folk Music. You can enjoy your time out on skislopes with many ski lifts, tourists routes or aqua parks (with thermal water). Zakopane is popular with traditional food and drinks served in many traditional style restaurants.
